Apostille-translation What documents require an apostille?

If you are going abroad not for tourism purposes, then sooner or later you will need your documents: birth certificate, marriage certificate, education documents, etc. If you need them to be accepted in another state, at first, you must go through the legalization procedure.

A number of countries have adopted a standard form of legalization - an apostille stamp. It is affixed in the country of issue of the document.

Depending on your goals, you may need a whole package of documents. And this means that you need to prepare all the documents accordingly. It is better to do it at the same time and immediately. But not all documents shall go through the legalization procedure.

What is an apostille stamp?

This is the seal that is placed on the document. It confirms the authenticity of signatures, seals and the authority of the persons who issued the document. The stamp confirms that the document has been officially issued. Thanks to the apostille, certificates, diplomas and other documents can be used in other countries that have signed the Hague Convention.

At the same time, each state has its own requirements for apostille and translation of documents. Yes, the legalized certificate must be translated into another language. In some cases, a double apostille is required. You can get this information in the country for which you need a document, or consult with our managers.

Documents for which you need to put an apostille in Ukraine

Internal and foreign passports do not require legalization. Usually these documents need to be translated and certified by a notary, but this is not possible with all documents.

An apostille is needed for:

  • certificates issued by Civil Registry Offices: concerning the birth, marriage, death.
  • education documents: diplomas, certificates of basic/complete education, supplements to them;
  • notarial deeds: powers of attorney, affidavits, deeds of gift, etc.;
  • court decisions;
  • certificates: from the police, medical, on place of residence, etc.

The apostille stamp is placed in the relevant ministries of Ukraine. It is impossible to go through this procedure abroad. Embassies and consulates do not provide this service.

In order to put a stamp on different documents, you need to contact different ministries. It takes a lot of time, especially if you have returned to Ukraine from abroad to prepare the documents.

How to get an apostille if you are not in Ukraine?

So, you need to legalize one or more documents, but you are currently abroad: what to do? Consulates and embassies do not provide such services. And at the same time, it is not always possible to return to Ukraine: it is expensive, you need to take time off from work, there is no one to leave the child with, etc.

There is a solution – to entrust the issuance of the apostille to our translation agency. Our managers using power of attorney will go through all the procedures for you, getting an apostille stamp on all your documents. In addition, we will make a notarized translation so that your certificates, powers of attorney, certificates are ready for use abroad. We will send the finished documents by postal services.
