poland-univ What do Ukrainians need to know to enter a university in Poland?

Now, according to various estimates, there are about 1 million Ukrainians in Poland. Among them are many families with school-age children. Therefore, for many it becomes relevant to receive further education in Poland.

In addition, many schoolchildren who are now finishing their final grades in Ukraine are considering the option of enrolling in European universities. They also often choose Polish educational institutions.

What documents are needed to study in Poland?

We recommend deciding in advance on the list of universities where your teenager wants to study. And only then clarify the list of documents for each university. Educational institutions may have different document requirements.

In all cases, foreign applicants must provide a Certificate of Secondary Education with an apostille. This is a mandatory document. If a child graduates from a Ukrainian school, he/she receives a state School Certificate. Such a document is valid abroad if it has an apostille stamp.

Where and how can Ukrainians get an apostille for a School Certificate?

An apostille is a stamp that is affixed on a separate form and is stitched with a School Certificate. This procedure allows you to legalize a document for other countries. Since Poland and Ukraine are member countries of the Hague Convention, the legalization procedure is carried out in a simplified manner - an apostille stamp is affixed.

Apostilization is carried out only in Ukraine. To do this, you need to submit documents to the Ministry of Education in Kyiv. Documents are checked for the authenticity of signatures and seals; the status of the persons who signed the certificate is confirmed.

But even a Ukrainian School Certificate with an apostille may not be accepted at a Polish university. The document and stamp are issued in the state language. Therefore, the School Certificate must be translated depending on the requirements of the educational institution:

  • into Polish;
  • into English;
  • by a sworn Polish translator.

Where to obtain an apostille for a School Certificate with translation in Kyiv?
